Business Development Executive

Lil Packaging are seeking "driven", adaptable and goal-orientated candidates to fill our vacancy of Business Development Executive. The appropriate applicant will be a member of the Business Development team, working towards the goal of predominantly re-establishing business relationships with former clients to provide our luxury packaging solutions.

Reports to: Head Of Business Development

Based: Head Office in Huntingdon

Hours: Full-time (37.5hrs/wk) 8.30am-4.30pm Mon–Fri with 30min lunch break.

Holiday: 26 Days paid annual leave plus bank holidays

Term: Permanent contract (standard UK employment ‘3 month probation’ applies).

Basic Salary: £22,000 - £28,000 depending on experience

Targets: Primary: £25,000/month of additional sales, whether new or returning. [reduced expectation first 4 months while training. Eg. month 1 £5k, month 2 £10k, month 3 £15k, month 4 £20k]

*Definition: Persuading a buyer (predominantly ex-customer) to re-purchase the product(s) that Lil have previously
supplied, including any new potential product lines. Target value includes all repeat orders for first 12months from first order

[Please note: the majority of leads will be warm from an ex-customer base, with the primary goal being to WIN the work back.
Full product knowledge training will be given in order to carry out the task with confidence and understanding of Lil Packaging

Expectation: Minimum x4 daily ‘**Meaningful Sales Interactions’ but going beyond and striving for x10.

Job Purpose: To re-establish business relationships with former clients by actively persuading senior buyers to re-purchase previously sold products, including any new potential product lines that Lil Packaging is able to supply.

Key Drivers for role success: This is an Executive-level role at Lil so the candidate’s ambition & determination must be in line with the ambitions of the company. Experience of B2B sales and customer interaction imperative.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  1. Renew relationships with former clients by proactively identifying (warm calling) why the account has been lost with clear objectives set to win the work back.
  2. To grow/develop a portfolio of renewed accounts by proactively contacting key decision makers to build rapport and to exploit new business opportunities.
  3. Actively forecast and track key account metrics of renewed accounts (e.g. monthly sales and annual forecasts) to ensure client(s) predicted usage/spend is on track.
  4. Small degree of cold calling/contact through different communication streams will be required to secure new business of cold leads.
  5. To support the Business Development Team regards all aspects of the sales process and report / database management
  6. Max 100-character ‘Lil’ abbreviated log of each call on CRM database (Shuttleworth).

  7. Ensure that database is well maintained (event title, customer spend, important notes box and event comments box completed alongside cleansing database as / where necessary) and event ‘due dates’ are met at all times
  8. Adhere to stated policies and procedures relating to Health and Safety, and Quality Management

Person Specification

Job Title: Business Development Executive

• Telephone sales experience preferred.
• Highly motivated and able to work effectively under own initiative.
• Ability to challenge / persuade telephone prospect if hurdles need overcoming
• Comfortable making unsolicited calls
• Able to demonstrate previous warm call effectiveness with some experience in cold calling.
• Superb telephone manner & communication skills
• Comfortable communicating with directors and prestigious blue chip companies.
